What is the difference between Xhorse XK (Wire) and XN (Wireless) remotes?

XK Series (Wire) remotes require a physical cable connected to the PCB to generate the remote frequency, and they do NOT have a built-in transponder chip (you must add one separately). XN Series (Wireless) remotes can be generated wirelessly by placing them in the tool's coil and feature an integrated NXP transponder chip.

You can generate this remote using Xhorse devices such as the VVDI Mini Key Tool, Key Tool Max, Key Tool Plus, or VVDI2.

Does it include the battery and the metal key blade?

Accepted Answer

This product includes the plastic shell, the button pad, and the red electronic circuit board. It does not include the metal flip blade (which must be purchased separately to match your car's lock profile) or the transponder chip. A standard CR2032 battery is required.

Will this only work on Volkswagens?

No. While it looks exactly like a Volkswagen B5 key, the internal board is universal. An Xhorse tool can program this board to transmit signals for hundreds of different car makes and models, though most locksmiths use this specific shell style when working on VWs or Audis to match the factory look.
