Kia-Hyundai Things to Know/Troubleshooting

  • ESCL is not automated, GND and +12V are both triggered by the PDM for a short time to allow LOCK/UNLOCK actions.
  • The ESCL operation is managed by the IPM which communicates via the serial communication line and additionally allows ESCL operation by pulling the ESEL_ENABLE pin to +12V.
  • Both ESCL outputs (serial command line and ESCL_UNLOCK are open bulk outputs without on-board pulls. ESCL_UNLOCK goes down if ESCL is unlocked.
  • The LED on the emulator board blinks if an action is performed (lock/unlock request received or ESCL turned on).

To install Kia Hyundai on the car:

Designed for original ESCL connector. You can unpack it from your broken ESCL and solder it directly to the emulator board.
Or you can use a connector from the original extension cable (installed in some cars).
